The Prothonotary Warbler is a rare species where I live, but not too far to the south and west they are fairly abundant.  Their habitat is flooded woods and mangrove areas. When seen in the darker woods their rich yellow color is very striking.  I believe they are the only Warbler in the eastern US that nests in tree cavities and in small bird houses provided in suitable habitat.

One of my favorite warblers and you have photographed it beautifully, Warren! Excellent pose and head turn! The new leaves budding out are a bonus and help tell the story. Very nice!!!

What a gorgeous shot! How fortunate to have even seen one let alone captured a first-class photo. Congratulations on both counts.

I just noticed the EP designation for this image of the Prothonotary Warbler.  Thank so much for the honor.  I haven't been on for a few days because I have Lyme disease in its arthritic form, so not typing much. I'm currently taking antibiotics and currently on the mend.  In any event, I have enjoyed many of the fine images on the site over the past several days and am very appreciative of the EP.       Best,   Warren
