One bird I really wanted to photograph during my 2 days of photography in Florida was the oystercatcher. I had seen a few here and there, but I hadn't got a chance at a good photo yet. Luckily, on my last evening in Florida, a pair of oystercatchers flew in just as I was about to leave and as the sun was disappearing over the horizon. Needless to say, this photo was one of my favorites from the trip. I hope you all like it.

Photography is all about the light, and you captured it superbly in this image, John. Moreover, the pose, background, exposure, perspective, color, and detail are all top-notch. For you to capture and present an image like this at age 17, leads me to believe your future in photography is limitless. Congratulations on a fantastic image! :D

Incredible catch. I love the colors, the point of shot and the chosen depth of field.

Ron has said all that I was thinking, and so eloquently!

John, you are a very talented photographer already, with a natural eye for what it takes to capture and present great nature images.  Long may it continue!

Everything about your image, John, is superb ! The sand-water that the Oystercatcher is walking in, has a very interesting pattern, and a
nice soft colour to it , as well.

Stunning. Love the comp, color, angle, eye contact, and especially the light and selective focus.

Sweet light, perfect positioning of the lens and framing. But really unique with the bubbly surface. Excellent.

Great looking shot. From the low angle, to the sweet light, and of course the beautiful subject it's all top notch. I know the feeling you get when everything comes together in a shot you really want. I'm sure there will be many more for you, John. Wonderful image !!
