This odd warbler actually looks more like a miniature Thrush with it's brownish colors and spotted chest. It's more often heard than clearly seen as it lives in the woods, many times fairly close to trails.  It's nest is what gives this bird it's name.  The nest is set on the ground,  is rounded at the top like a Dutch oven, and only allows access from one side. It's very well concealed and camouflaged.

The orange colored crest usually is only shown during Spring breeding season when the bird is agitated by another Ovenbird in it's territory.

Excellent! Perched, yet; They spend so much time gleaming and foraging on the forest floor. Beautiful shot.

Beautiful lighting and details. I really like how parts of the perch are in focus and other parts projecting out are not. It gives it a very three dimensional feel. Great background also.

Outstanding shot of an Ovenbird. I used to call them in a dark forested area and they came. I no longer go there as the terrain is very rough and muddy at places.

Incredibly appreciable details on this very well portrayed little subject.
I really like the choice of depth of field.

Great image, Warren, of a species that can be challenging to photograph , due to their terrestrial nature.

One of my favorite spring birds- we hear them all summer long, and once came upon a nest. Very nice showing of the crest, and good to read the story.

Super shot Warren. Good to see it showing the crest and the soft light suits this very well.
