Just thought to share.   Taken with a D7100 and Sigma 150-600 Sport.  Little light on the ss but the D7100 for me, ISO needs to be below 3200 for decent IQ and had set this around 2800.  1/500 F6.3.  There are a couple of little bits of blur, tail and wing tip, but at the ss, was expected....

Just dropping by.  Hooded Crow, taken in the Cairngorms..  Locally known as the Scotch Crow.

This is beautiful David! I love the background and the green shrubbery. Excellent take off pose with fantastic detail in the blacks also. Great work.

I agree, Dave! John said it well. In addition, the dynamic flight position is superb!

As Ron related, I also like the diagonal position of the takeoff as it brings a dynamic element to the image. I actually like a bit of blur on wing tips, as some of my images also show, because I think it helps bring the bird to life. Well done.

Excellent take off pose towards the camera. I like the tree top included.. I just checked my life list and I saw it in Hungary in 1997 while visiting relatives, but no picture unfortunately.

Blacks look well handled, and the pose is great. I'd prefer a faster shutter speed, but understand the limitations you note.

This is a real pleasing takeoff shot with superb wing position. A very tough exposure because of the dark plumage. I think you pull that off well. The background colors along with the foreground make this a compelling image. I think the blur of the wingtip is fully acceptable. One thing I might suggest with respect to processing is the use of DxO photo lab 4.2. I think it does a much better job of noise reduction and allows one to get fairly decent image quality at even higher ISO.

Wow! Gorgeous composition and beautiful pose for this crow. The leaves of the tree at the base are very beautiful and complete the image.
