I would say that you caught the Merganser perfectly here, Karl, for an excellent photo.
The colours are so nice, as well.

Great looking shot. Love the positioning and his slight tilt towards you that gave a better view of his belly , both feet, and enhanced the wing position. Very much worth clicking for more detail.
