I have been chasing snowy owls that winter in Massachusetts every year. It is always fun to find and photograph them here in winter. But seeing them in their breeding plumage, on their breeding grounds (Arctic Tundra) was a dream come true. Up there, these birds are very skittish, maybe because they are hunted. It was not easy to get anywhere close to this owl (and we wanted to keep our distance too). I was just happy to spend some time with this beauty. This was taken with Matthew in Barrow.

A really evocative image, very well composed, I like how the snowy owl stands out in the landscape.

Very nice shot of the Snowy Owl in its breeding habitat -- a sight not often shown.
