Forest-dwelling parrots that are found on offshore islands that have no introduced mammals, or at least no stoats! They are a common sight in Wellington city, having spread from Zealandia / Karori Sanctuary after  being introduced 6 years ago. Other names: bush parrot, kākā, brown parrot, kawkaw

Nice behaviour capture! I understand you are more likely to hear these squawky birds before you can see them? (correct me if I'm wrong, Zig). You got a good view of this one.

Yes ! your not wrong Carol, especially at the sanctuary, you get that experience as they flock to the bird feeder station :-)
PS. The word kā can mean ‘screech’ in Māori.
