Introduced and Naturalised they are a long way from their native Western USA. Not considered to have any conservation or economic impacts, but are hunted on a limited scale as these game birds have spread all over NZ

Very fine looking bird. Would prefer more sharpness on the face.

Who can resist one of these! Nice shot, and such photogenic birds. I didn't realise you had them introduced over there - much like the pheasants over here, brought in for game birds and now they are everywhere.

Well spotted !  I chose the wrong image, the other has a sharp face but body profile ever so slightly skewed. :-(
