At times, the hummingbirds stretch back their wings
and spread their tails, as this one is doing.
Image taken in September, not long before they
begin their winter migration south, to the tropics.

Excellent timing to capture this interesting hummingbird behavior. The tail spread is sharp and beautiful. Well done, Paul.

A unique pose for this hummingbird, incredibly detailed fan tail.

A nicely timed capture of this stretching behaviour, Paul. It sounds like its getting prepared for the flight south and making sure everything is ready and in good condition for the forthcoming journey.

The detail in the photo, for the most part, is from the Canon 400mm f 5.6 L lens;
a lens Canon has made for many years ( 27 ) , not too expensive, and very light weight.
Considering all the newer lenses that are now available, it holds up in image quality,
very well compared to them.
