Great Bittern | Eurasian Bittern Botaurus stellaris

Captured this morning with sun right behind me ...
It came out literally from nowhere.

The Great Bittern is a very secretive bird found in extensive reedbeds. Seen mainly as single birds in flight, especially early and late in the day. Stealthy and easily overlooked.

KK....when I first saw this shot I thought it was one of mine except mine is an American Bittern. You got him very well in great sweet light and background. I like the way bitterns and other herons have their feet straight out in the back in flight. Well done.
