Taking off.
This bird is very photogenic.
We don't have it.
I can only photograph one that is in captivity.
Many years ago when falconers had a show mostly for children, one of these raptors landed on my wife's arm.
I was so surprised that I forgot to push the shutter.

Love the story, Karl!  I have also been so amazed watching animals and birds that I have sometimes forgotten I have a camera.  :)

Nicely timed to capture the lovely smooth moment of launch into the air.

Karl, We're lucky to have quite a few Harris's in South Texas. A pair is building a nest near our raptor area for the second year in a row. Hopefully the population will continue to grow. Interesting that the parents don't usually push the young out of the area. An excellent image. Captive or not, you still have to get the shot.

Great story and a fine photo showing off those beautiful red shoulders.
