Such a nice setting with the warm light and beautiful background, Tom. Love the pose of the Wren with the raised foot. Very nice!

Terrific light and detail in this image of a cactus wren. A good friend of mine goes to Arizona once a year and complains of the harsh light but this image, as well as some of your others, proves that there are good situations in Arizona for well lit shots. Nice image all around of this beautiful bird.

Hi Warren...

Thanks so much for the comments. The Arizona sun is indeed harsh for most of the day. I've found that very late in the afternoon is best. The golden light of a setting sun provides lots of nice shadows as well. Your friend might want to try going out about an hour before sundown to see if that improves the lighting situation for him.
