She is pretty. The bright line on the top of the upper mandible is the light effect I believe, so I did not remove it. :) There was only one spot in the background this colorful but I managed to line up with it.
I took my wife there today but it was a no show between 7-11.

I think this is a terrific image of a very skittish bird. The arch in her back is a classic kingfisher pose as well as having the crest up is great. It's one of the few birds in the northeast that the female is more colorful than the male so that is an extra bonus. Great lighting and beautiful background as well.

What a wonderful pose with the crest up and the tail up, Karl. The detail and background are top-notch as well. Excellent work!

Beautiful frame Karl. Love the pose and the background. I prefer the females with the rust on the sides, they are prettier than the males.
A few issues with masking around the beak and the crest but otherwise a fantastic looking frame. Well done and congratulations on the editors pick.
