I captured this fun shot a few years back on a great trip to Costa Rica with NS members Greg Basco and Doug Brown.

This was taken at a setup at one of the eco lodges we stayed at.
I didn't realize the little wasp was protecting the flower and wondered why the female Green-breasted Mango hummer was so reluctant to feed. After I looked at the image I saw the wasp in the frame. I got lucky as she flashed her beautiful tail open a few times in disapproval.
Looks like the wasp had his way as this little hummer was in and out of this setup in literally a second. Hope you like it.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input.  I appreciate it

Like everything about the shot. What's not to like ?! The spread of the tail is a stunner and makes a terrific looking shot really great.

I agree. The iridescence you captured in the tail is extraordinary!

This one turned out great, David! That was tricky composing with that flower but I really like how you framed it.

Cheers,
Greg

Gorgeous image! Beautifully timed to catch this story telling moment with the little wasp on the defensive and the amazing colours and iridescence on the hummer. Superb.
