I rarely photograph birds, since my longest lens is a 400mm and is MF. However this Goose on this calm pond allowed me the time to get a shot.

I really like the clamness of the scene and especially the catch light in its eye from the rising sun.

You are quickly becoming the master of the moody shot here on NSN. Very nice and artistic portrayal of this Goose.

The only nit is your bright watermark!!!, It detracts from what it is a wonderful and beautiful capture, a lovely mood and a wonderful bird!!!
What a lovely image!!! Sans watermark!!! 8)

Lovely, moody image. I'm sure the original is probably even nicer

I love it. Very moody with warm light and shadow. If I could make all the geese I ever have tried to photograph this attractive, I might appreciate them more. :D

I like the soft dreamy feel this has - the catchlight keeps us grounded, though - a great effect.

Thanks All for the comments. It did turn out to be a real moody image, which is strange as I was in a real mood that morning. I had traveled down to So. Calif. for my very first Art Show and it turned out to be a complete flop. And so I felt that I did not have what it takes to be a photographer producing quality images that people liked. I woke up early that morning and went out with my camera to this wildlife refuge in the middle of the San Fernando Valley, very densly populated area. There was a wonderful tule fog all over the refuge and every thing was very calm, even the wildlife as I approached them. This is just one of many succesful images I captured that morning. The images I got that morning put me back on track and I have neer looked back since. :) Again thanks.
