Scissor-tailed Flycatcher photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas 18 May 2020. This is a male, indicated by the extra long tail.
Nikon D850 Nikon 300mm lens + 1.4 tc 1/640 sec f/14 ISO 1250 The STF stayed on the perch for a bit, which isn't normal. Initially shot was f/8 and the tail was not in focus. Increased to f/10 and the same thing. Selected f/14 and got this image and then he flew away. Luckily f/14 was enough. Also had to decrease the shutter speed to help keep the ISO down. The detail is better if viewed large. |
