Life is harsh.  Fell from my roof this afternoon.  Little fluff ball seemed fine, instinctively alternating between lying low and then nosing around as a child does.

Took a few images of it strutting around.  Left it nestled in the shade while I got my ladder, and then put it back on the roof.

Odd thing about the whole experience, being the parents, whom I expected to be dive bombing and harassing me ignored the whole process.

Safely back on the roof, less than 30 minutes passed before it fell off again, with fatal consequences.

Such a sad story but the even sadder truth is that most baby birds do not survive their first year of life. Great look at that little fluff ball and really like the flowery grass. And how cool is it that you have gulls nesting on your roof!!!

A sad tale but a heartfelt tribute, Dave. Excellent low point of view, great detail, and delightful flowers in the background.

Nice details and cool looking little chick Dave. Too bad he didn't learn anything the first time around.

It must have been its time to go, Dave. So vulnerable at this age - and that applies to all birds. At least it will mean a wee bit less poop on your house and garden...... When I lived on the south coast they nested behing my chimney on the roof........ there was a load of poop falling from the sky!

A sweet image with the buttercups and daisies - and a little clover flower if I'm not mistaken...

Carol.
