Often seen perching on fence posts at the side of the road, swamp harriers are a large, long-legged tawny-brown bird of prey that occurs throughout New Zealand. I clocked one doing 40Kph along the road searching for food low to the ground in a gently rocking glide interspersed with lazy wing beats

Zig, excellent warm lighting and sweet pose of this raptor on the road-side post. Interesting information on its speed as well.
