Northern Hawk Owl

This tree snag is one of the many stash trees of his. He loves old hollow trees and the marsh has many of them. Shortly after we arrived, he was eating a fresh looking Vole. This bird is not afraid of people which works for us.

Wonderful action pose with head down and wings out, Karl. The perch is perfect, and the hint of habitat in the background is the perfect finishing touch.

Another fine shot-like the story too. maybe a bit of a blue cast on the shadows? Not much-just a thought.
