Bewick's Wren photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas December 7, 2019.

1/2500 sec
f/5.6
ISO 800

These guys are small and are always moving.  I felt fortunate to photograph one moving between two cactus tunas.

Image quality is better viewed large.

Nice landing pose! And I go "ouch" thinking about the prickly results, but I guess birds know how to deal with that. ;) Well done to capture this little zippy bird.

Cynthia, The tuna (some might call it prickly pear) has very few thorns.  All the birds are comfortable landing on them.  Mockingbirds are especially fond of cactus tunas.  They will stand on the tunas eating until their beaks are completely red from the juice of the tuna.  The cactus itself is a completely different story.
