Northern Hawk Owl.

I missed a great opportunity when the Owl flew down to the ground,covered with fallen brown leaves, only about ten feet from us.
Reason: the D500/500 was too long or I was too slow.
Next time I will use a shorter lens with the full frame as I don't really have a zoom.

Wonderful image, Karl! The plumage detail is amazing and those eyes are stunning. The tiny splashes of colour from those little tree buds add a nice extra to the frame. A beauty!

Without question, the best of the series thus far. Impeccable detail, perfect complementary background, and outstanding pose with those eyes. Fantastic image, Karl. Congrats. on a very fine photograph.
