Pacific Black Duck - Tasmania
a7R4, 100-400mm @ 380mm, ISO 500, f/6.3, 1/640s
The beautiful and elegant Pacific Black Duck.  When I visited New Zealand several years ago it was virtually impossible to find this species without signs of hybridization with the Common Mallard.  This was not the case in Tasmania where obviously pure Pacific Black Ducks were abundant.  This one was photographed along the banks of the Mersey River in northern Tasmania.

Beautiful setting with the flowers in the background, and handsome markings on the duck, EJ. Looks like you are having a very successful trip.

Although the duck is nearly B&W, the bird is strikingly attractive with great detail and painterly light.

You have made our local duck look very nice. The light really sets it off.

So pretty in the floral setting- is this one for your world-wide duck "collections"? A beauty, in any case.
