Other names: silver gull, tarāpunga, mackerel gull. The commonest gull in New Zealand it geographical range spreads to Western Australia. The bird tends to nest at the same locality from one season to the next, and offspring mostly return to their natal dense colony to breed.

A nice sharp capture of the gull in flight over those on the ground. I like their red bill and feet.
