There are two colour forms or ‘morphs’ of fantail, with the more common pied morph occurring throughout its range, and the black morph comprising up to 5% of the South Island

Nice pose and detail, Zig. And I like the clean complementary background. A slight head turn in your direction would have been nice. Good job!

A sweet view of this little beauty, a slight head turn towards you would have been better, but still nice as shown. Are they little 'whiskers' showing around the base of the beak?

Yes indeed.

The fantail is one of New Zealand’s best known birds, with its distinctive fanned tail and loud song, and particularly because it often approaches within a metre or two of people.

Hence no need to crop with my 7D II + 400mm combo ;-)
