I may be happier with this shot than anything I have ever taken.
To get one at eye level in decent light is a dream where I live.
They fly incredibly fast for a large bird.

Definitely something to be proud of. Certainly one of the best images of a Pileated that I have ever seen! The wing position, colors and detail are top notch. It really should be clicked on for best view.

This is a "must click" for detail. Certainly something to be proud of- wonderful detail and light. Looks like some remnants of wood in his beak from some recent excavation. Very cool!

Dan: These WP's are really difficult to get a 10+ shot when in flight - but, you really nailed it. Beautifully captured with every detail tack sharp. Well done.

A very difficult and beautiful flight shot, Dan. Congratulations on acquiring a rarely seen image with perfect detail.

They also loop when they fly, making it even more difficult to lock on (and stay on - with a non-sky background). Excellent result. Incredible detail.
