Taken SEA and SAGE AUDUBON IN IRVINE ,CALIF. MAY 8,2008 IN THE AM.I PLACED A SHOWER CURTAIN ON THE MUD, LAID DOWN ON IT. I USED A REAL LOW TRIPOD, CANON 1DMIIN  CAMERA BODY, 500 LENS WITH A 2XTC, ISO 400, f8, 1/500 sec and fired away.I POSTED A VERTICAL THEN, BUT PREFER THIS HORIZONTAL VIEW.I HAVE 2 IMAGES OF OTHER SUBJECTS THAT ARE 48 INCHES WIDE AND TACK SHARP

Well, the "shower curtain on the mud" technique sure paid off, Jim. The poses with bills crossed are remarkable, and the detail is excellent. I love the pano format, and when viewed large the tiny water droplets around their heads are a bonus. Well done!

I love our black and white avocets but there is something about the lovely colouring of your stateside species that just adds to their beauty! This is a beautiful image, Jim!

I've seen our avocet chicks once, Jim - they were adorable, so I hope you get to see and photograph them in Spring. :)
