You can just see the red eyes that indicate this is a female. She picked up a very large Apple Snail, brought it to a snag and then tried to open and eat it. It was just too large and she finally discarded it. The kites appear to be slowly adapting to the larger invasive snails but will always take the smaller native snails when they have the choice.
