An amazingly coloured bird from the rainforests of Australia. The deep blue colour and the blue eye are simply amazing! However, they also make it very difficult to expose this bird properly. He has to be in just the right angle with the right amount of flash to look nice and blue. If you get it wrong, he's either black or weirdly reflecting the flash!

Here everything came together well. It's also one of my favourite perches I've found in a while.

Perfect exposure on the bird. Must be clicked on to be fully appreciated.

Gorgeous image, as always, Jan - and so nice to see some variation in the background with this one.

Terrific exposure of a difficult subject, especially with such a light background. Excellent work!

Gorgeous shot!  I’d be tempted to crop a hint more from the right, but then you’d lose the vertical branch that adds so much, so I’d probably frame it as you did.  Great job on the exposure, especially considering the subject, bg, and the epiphytes(?) That could “blow out” so easily.  Do you mind sharing your FF settings?
