Axel, Extraordinary photo!
Photographed with a guy at the ranch quite a while ago who had sold lots of photos. He was convinced that in the western hemisphere, people thought a bird that was going left to right was better received because people wrote left to right so that was the way the eye tended to look at things. Conversely, when he sold photos in the far east, he would flip it the other way. I was never convinced, but I could see his reasoning.

Thanks for sharing that story, Gene! It is an interesting thought and makes sense to me. It would not surprise me at all if the direction of reading has an impact on what people are used to see in images as well.

Nice pose with the open beak and that BG is awesome! I missed you at Nickerson as I went on Thursday a few weeks ago. My First time and it was pretty good as the birds were very active and the skimmers were close. Hope to see you next time!

Superb image, as always, Axel! The pose plus calling open beak are beautifully captured and the early light is the icing on the cake.
