A rather dark morning, but so exciting to see a new crop of Evening Grosbeaks being fed-this one was waiting patiently for a meal. "Dad" was selecting a seed for it, and soon complied. Feeding photos, unfortunately, were in deep shadow.

I love the perch, especially the fingerlike projections just in front of the bird.
Perfect BG and a nice profile view. I love it when they dip their wings slightly as part of the "feed me" behavior.
Our flock of evening grosbeaks has disappeared :-(

Thank you Gail- yes-they flutter and posture- anything to get a bite to eat. So appealing!
We are extremely lucky to have had an ongoing flock of Evening Grosbeaks for over 30 years. They are the only breeding Evenings withing about 50 miles or more. Most people here rarely see them. This year we had a "bumper" crop- of around 22 at once. A far cry for the 30 to 40 and up that used to come here and eat us out of house and home. I'm sorry you've "lost" yours.

A beautiful image of this youngster, Cindy. Love the pose, color and detail. It must be a treat to have so many for these lovely birds.
