I have made several attempts to capture images of this species in what way be the western extreme of its breeding range.  I got lucky this time and found several singing males.  7D2, 500/F4+1.4, F10, 1/800, ISO 400, -0.33 EC, beanbag.  Thanks fo any comments or suggestions, Dave

Excellent shot...I did a bobolink survey for the USF&WS on Malheur NW and there are lots around Page Springs in the flooded fields. As far as I know, the Crooked River is as far west as they come.

I like the placement of the bird in the frame and the balance provided by the reeds on the left. Well done!

David, Excellent details throughout. Don't know for sure, but maybe if you selectively lightened the background, the details in the blacks might stand out better and present a nicer silhouette?

Excellent use of the different elements in the frame to give this nicely balanced image, and the detail of the plumage colours and markings is shown beautifully, Dave.
