Western sub-species Malurus splendens splendens has an amazing number of shades of blue. I have been captivated by these stunning birds for many years. I kept improving my nature photography skills, buying better cameras and better lenses until finally I achieved a decent result! Canon 1DX, 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM, f11, 1/1600, ISO 800, 2 X III extender

Welcome! These amazing birds have to be one of Australia's most beautiful species and this is a wonderful image for your first post, Keith. You have caught the classic wren pose with perky little tail in the air, and the gorgeous colour, detail of plumage, lichen covered perch and the insect for lunch are excellent. Well done!
