TAKEN   FEB 22 2006   ON HOKKAIDO, JAPAN.MY GOOD FRIEND Makoto DROVE me to an area with a stream. we arrived in daylight. I setup my tripod just outside the car.We were parked parallel to a stream.  I HAD MY 600 LENS ON THE TRIPOD We sat there for 4-5 hours.WHEN IT WAS FULLY DARK THE OWL APPEARED.i had no idea he would be so big.I rotated the kens and shot vertical.  CANON 1DMIIN  LENS ,f5.6, 1/160, FLASH ON

Great story and shot, Jim. Love the penetrating eyes. The fish takes it up a notch. Definitely worth your wait in the cold.
