I was trying to capture this species in flight for several years using Canon cameras and lenses at no avail. As soon as I switched to Nikon I have keepers every time I try. Well, it might be just a coincident.

Nikon D850
Nikon 500 f 5.6
ISO 640
1/2000 s
f 6.3

It is not a coincidence with the new Nikon camera's but it still takes dedication, time in the field and talent...
Top notch pose and close-up flight shot.

Excellent shot of the RWB with wings on the down stroke, Karl. The detail is first-rate. Best viewed large.

I can add: This is a perfect picture and I think is the eye behind the camera.

You have a wonderful collection of these beauties in flight, Karl - and I think its due to your dedication and expertise regardless of the equipment you're using.
