Oystercatchers have been nesting on top of this huge rock on the beach for many years. One or two days after this image the chick was down on the beach, which is a pretty good drop. The parents had abandoned the two unhatched eggs in order to feed and protect the one hatched chick down on the beach.
I guess the other two eggs were an insurance policy. http://www.gon2foto.net (current site)
