Common Merganser or Goosander ( Male )

The goosanders prefer to winter in these parts of the country. But most winters only the females come down. Last winter was an exception when a huge flock of these beautiful birds arrived with a considerable number of males.

With all of the splashing water, it appears you photographed one of two or more Mergansers taking off. Very nice pose and foot action just above the water’s surface.
