My wife and I went on a cruise up the west coast of South America a few weeks ago. Other than typical tourist shots the only photographs I took was when we went on a shore excursion to Islas Ballestas just offshore from Pisco, Peru.

These guys were everywhere. Also saw Peruvian Boobies and Humboldt Penguins. The Inca Tern is one of the most handsome subjects at which I have ever aimed my camera.

Nikon D500 with Tamron 150-600, ISO 500, f8, 1/1,250 sec from a rocking small boat. The VR on the Tamron lens came through again.

All comments, suggestions, criticisms, etc. welcome. Thanks in advance.

Bruce, Indeed a beautiful bird. The background of the lighter rock helps isolate the bird and, I think, makes an apparent improvement in detail.

A striking bird and an excellent pose.
I can see a more landscape 2 x 3 crop to show the nice rock scenery where they live.

Love the pose, perfect exposure and a good view of those so distinctive face markings, Bruce! A beautiful image.
