Just for interest, a leucistic Moorhen spotted beside a lake.  A grab shot as I hadn't seen one before, and not good quality - but you can see the quirky colours.  Quite different from the normal sleek black plumage.  :)

Great find, Carol. Leucistic birds are unique and provide views seldom seen. What a difference from the normal black plumage. Thanks for sharing.

the side feathers looks as if it was done with a painters brush stroke and getting it out in the open is a plus, good stuff CAROL.

Nice low angle for a grab shot and an outstanding subject.

Thanks Peter.  Yes, I thought the feathers were much softer and painterly in appearance compared to the normal black moorhen feathers.  That's your artistic eye picking up on the finer detail.   :)

What a treat- so interesting to see-and not such a bad shot either! Amazing colors and patterns. I always wonder how well these odd birds survive compared to their "normal" relatives.

Thanks Cindy.  This one seemed just fine mixing with normal coloured moorhens, and it was definitely a mature bird so had coped so far.  :)
