Shot this morning. Dark overcast as usual. I arrived to the lake and went to the section where 2 parts of the lake are connected with a narrow passage. I went down to the water level, tripod in the water and waited for 1/2 hour....nothing just a few Scaups way in the distance. I moved to the other side of the passage and there were more Scaups but too far again. These birds are super shy.
While I was waiting for the group of Scaups move closer..Osprey landed on the tree above me. It was facing direction to the other side of the passage were I was earlier. 10 minutes later huge splash and I am looking to my right there is Osprey lifting nice size trout out of water. I didn't even had a chance to take the shot. If I would stay at my first location I could more likely get a super nice shot of the Osprey with the fish. Later on few Scaups came closer, but still a good amount distance. This male Scaup was keeping eyes on me. D2HS, 500mm f/4 P ED IF + TC-16A 1/125, ISO-1600, f/9 on tripod. Please click on the image for uncompressed view, thank you. NOTE: Thanks to Tim Zurowski for properly identifing the duck as Ring-necked Duck...thank you Tim.
