Last image shown was  bit of fun.  Always a pleasure and privilege to witness life.  This one was not using the favoured perch and was targeting dinner from almost ground level.   Head pointed up towards dinner... Sometimes the extra image info adds... Techs.  D7100 and Sigma Sport 150-600 at 600.  1/500 F8 at Iso 3200.

I enjoy the pose and the composition.  I might darken the out of focus bark on the left.

Nice low angle shot David! Such a beauty bird. Nice details. I used to own Sigma 150-600mm SPORT lens, very good lens.

I like the close approach to get all the details and that eye close-up capture, well taken DAVID.

I love this one, Dave!  Your selective focus is just right to showcase this little beauty peeping so sweetly from its tree trunk perch.  The crest and bright eye are captured perfectly.

A wonderful series, Dave. Beautiful raised crest and super detail.

I like the habitat and the head angle of the bird.
I might de-saturate the foliage on the trunk as it grabs my eye...

What a wonderful expression - a sweet ending for your series with this little charmer. Excellent , the way you framed this , peeking out from behind the tree. And that bright eye! Love it!!

Thanks for that look Cindy.

(another trip with my Father in law.  Bloody cold.  I was kitted out properly)..

Over the years I have kitted him out, with jackets, trousers, boots, etc,  but Dad-in Law had hands that were freezing even at noon, so brought that session to a close..(taken his gloves off....Lol).  . Gloves etc I had in plenty, as had Dave too, but he chose to use bare skin...saw the hands were bright red....  it's interesting what you remember.  I took the bags bag to the car.  When I got back Dave was wandering off in the "way off wrong direction" so had to shout to get him back...  Best light was coming, but that was not an option.

Great day though.  Difficult to say in words, but there  is a lot more going on than taking images of Cresties.
