It is very tough to get close to them . Once had a chance to encounter this closely in a marsh land of West Bengal . 
Nikon D800E , Nikon 700 mm , ISO 800 , f8 , 1/1000

The diagonal perch looks great compositionally, and I love how you framed the bird in the vertical format. Very nice image!

well presented from the vertical shot, to the exposure and that eye contact, a beauty of an image.
