Taken in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula in a small pond where a group of Buffleheads landed and spent the next 30 minutes performing all kinds of courtship behaviors.  In the presence of females males seem to jut their chest out at the last wing flap (which is briefly held in the position pictured).

What a little beauty, so proud and chest all puffed out for the ladies! Lovely view of the action and good exposure for these difficult plumage colours, Paul.

Exposed very well..nice flap pose.
Nice low angle and the water circle is nice.
I think a bit of time removing the bright background grass stems would be worth it.

Excellent pose with the chest thrust and wing flap, Paul. The little water droplets are a treat.

Love the pose and info. (I've been known to puff my chest in the presence of females too..LOL)...

I never clone anything out of an image.
