The sun was just high enough to crest over the six foot tall big blue stem grass and light up the pothole. This is a private 800 acres of mixed native prairie and wetland that is scattered with pothole ponds no bigger than a quarter acre. The bushwhacking is tough, and the hikes are long to get to them. But if I get here before day break, the views and colors that explode at sunrise are breathtaking.

Gorgeous early morning light, Drew. Great takeoff shot with lots of implied action via the splashing water. Wish the duck’s flight path was angled more towards you. You are to be commended on your pre-dawn bushwhacking to get this shot. Nice work! :D

Great capture - all that water action and the color tones are captivating.

What a gorgeous backdrop for this beauty. It really brings out all the droplets. Wonderful shot!

The action is good, but the light and setting are great.
