Tough to get these birds on the ground, the grass makes for difficult ground level shots with a clear window. Wanted a nice habitat shot showing a glimpse into the world of these wonderful birds. Typical early spring conditions, chilly, blowing 30 sustained.

I like this, Drew. The blurred surroundings isolate your subject very nicely. And you captured a sweet calling pose with good detail in natural habitat. Very nice image.

This is really nice- it just says "early spring" in a perfect environment for this bird. Singing too! They are so elusive- great job, and a refreshing view.

I think there is a bit too much negative space at the bottom but I like the concept.
The mini scene inside the photo is exceptional with the sharp bird and habitat.

There are so many times when I go quirky and like to challenge traditional views.  Much in this I like.  Space is good, but I do feel the space in this image is in the wrong areas.  Sort of every element needs to add part to the story, so the use of empty space oft becomes one of my fav' tools, but the placement of that space is just as important as the use of it.

The mini scene is an option as Dan mentions...

Very nice singing pose. Such a nice birds, very similar to Western Meadowlarks we have here and they are very very shy.
