This gorgeous reddish egret in breeding colors landed about 10 feet away from me. His mate flew in and he started to sky point.
I was just able to get the beak within the frame.
It was a very windy, cloudy day. I think the wind blown feathers on the neck are kind of cool.

As always, looks better when clicked on.

Great timing to capture the sky pointing behavior, Gail. Love the wind-blown feathers and the beautiful color.

I agree , the wind-blown feathers add a lot-they make it into a lively portrait, and it's already excellent. The curving neck makes a good , lyrical composition. I wonder about the dark area at the top-it kind of works but it puzzles me. I guess there could be a tad more space at the top as well, if you're into adding real estate. Works very well "as is" too.
