I was quite happy to find a Varied Thrush in eastern Pennsylvania. Their normal range is the Pacific Northwest. According to local birders, it's only the second time this species has been around here.

Wow- great find and a beautiful capture. Looks a bit out of it's element, but finding forage, at least. Got to wonder how it got so far East and why....
Anyway, it looks really nice against the snowy background. Hope you get some more pictures of it.

Congratulations on finding this rarity, Axel. The color of the bird is set off beautifully by the background snow. And the berry takes it up a notch. Excellent.

Nice capture in the snow with a cherry? I feel bad for these birds. These are mostly forest birds and only comes down when they can't find any food due to weather like snow. When we have mild winters I never see them at my feeder. This year, they at my backyard since December. I just keep reloading feeders and suet and sugar water feeders for Hummingbirds :-)

Tough exposure,,nice that you kept detail in the Snow, especially the BG, which would be tough.
Nice work.

Thanks, Ludo! The Thrush likes to eat these little crabapples and hangs out with Robins in an Industrial Park. Not great for photography but a nice surprise to see this species around here.

Your image brings back great memories when one of these rare visitors put Guelph on the map.
Great capture, Axel.
