Shot this afternoon. This shot was tricky. I was shooting with
D2Hs and MF 500mm f/4 + TC-16A (1.6X AF). I love this setup for the reach 500mm X 1.6X TC = 800mm x 1.5 crop body = 1200mm.
Depth of field is razor thin and with a bird coming at you really fast I have to focus manually since lens is MF and TC-16A autofocus TC has only very limited range at this focal length.
The focusing ring is silky smooth. I love these older MF lenses.
D2Hs, Nikon 500mm f/4 P ED IF + TC-16A
1/1600, ISO-1000, f/9, on tripod.

Needs a click to see the details-the eyes really show up well. Good job with quick reflexes to mf on this bird! Maybe crop a bit?

Ludo, manually focusing on a Harrier flying at you must be extremely difficult. This is a lovely approach shot – the dark background shows off the light gray Harrier perfectly.

Very nice incoming flight shot, Ludo. It would be difficult with AF never mind manual.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Cindy, this is pretty much full frame shot. Width is 100% and it is cropped to 16x9 ratio so only cropped vertically. I Only crop very little or none with D2Hs since it only has 4.1MB , but I love the camera and it is my favorite one even though I own D4 I prefer D2Hs when light is good.D4 is awesome also and I will never sell neither of them,,, just different tools for different jobs.
