Confrontation in the air

I was about to leave this area when this interaction started. I was able to get my gear out my vehicle in time to fire off 2 shots. This is a heavy crop because the birds were quite far away but still came out decent. It seems like these things always happen when the birds are far away.

Very nice shot Bob, even cropped. Image tells story very well and that is what matter the most. I have seen fights like this but like Bob mentioned, they almost always happen when not ready or too far away.

Nice shooting...ground nesting short ear owls really defend their territories. Saw 1 take on a Golden Eagle & not giving an inch.
