Snow geese, mixed with others, are now moving through my hometown area by the thousands in the open fields. Watching these birds as a whole at distance is quite wonderful, like a poetic dance. Ive spent the last couple days following them on the back country roads exploring different ways to show such a spectacle. This image kicks off my short series.

I share your enthusiasm for the grandeur of watching thousands of snow geese in huge flocks such as this. A part of the joy, which can not be revealed in a photograph, is the enormous sound the flocks produce. Great pattern shot and nice black and white conversion.

Shooting large flocks like this is not as easy as it may seem, especially with a 600mm lens. Often time there are out of focus birds in the fore front and the back. You managed to capture all of them in focus. Nicely done.
