The unique reflections in the water make the image for me, Jake. In fact, the reflection of the Heron might nudge out the bird itself, because the tones are a little darker. I like the square crop and framing very much. Nice work.

This is a really nice image. I would reduce the exposure on the bird to that of its reflection. You can carefully select the bird and do this, and probably get away without losing detail. Or,if you took this in raw mode, you could start off by reducing exposure when converting the image, so the bird is better exposed. Then the rest of the image will be somewhat dark. Then you can carefully select the bird, select inverse, and lighten the exposure of everything but the bird this way.

I agree the bird itself is over exposed. I do like the composition, reflection and the water.
